As well as tons of benefits, beetroots are known for enhancing athletes’ performance – particularly in endurance sports – thanks to their high levels of nitrates. You only have to google 'beetroot and sports performance' to bring up a wealth of studies and research. Performance aside, this nutrient-packed root's also great for lowering blood pressure, AND got itself two page spread in Women's Health this month. Tip: consume it an hour before you workout.

- One can chickpeas, drained
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp tahini
- 1 clove garlic
- ½ juiced lemon
- 1 tsp cumin
- black pepper
- Himalayan sea salt
- 20g Pure Beet Powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Water to thin
