The joint: Redemption Bar
Head to: 320 Old Street, EC1V 9DR (a 5 min walk from Old Street tube).
The lowdown: Redemption Bar in Notting Hill is said to be the healthiest restaurant in town, and they've just opened a new joint in Shoreditch, so of coooourse we went to try it out. They serve up vegan, sugar-free, and wheat-free food and alcohol-free cocktails, meaning you can 'spoil yourself without spoiling yourself'. So if you're attempting dry January, or have many sins to repent (*puts hands in air*), we suggest popping in here. We stopped by after a killer session at 1Rebel, and left feeling certain we were the epitome of health itself (and a little bit smug).
We ate: sweetcorn and red pepper pancakes (great taste and a subtle chilli kick), roasted gomasio & cashew crusted pumpkin (horseradish, avo and lemon dressing = massive nom), cauliflower kimchi & pomegranate (we enjoyed it, but fermented foods are an acquired taste), and a lemon and blueberry cheesecake (made from cashew nut cream, it's good for you and SO. DAMN. GOOD.)
We drank: coco-tinis (blueberry and coconut water infused 'martinis'), coconut milk based flat whites, and fresh mint tea.
The vibe: relaxed and perfect for catching up with friends during the day, or after dusk. Not the kind of place to pull out your Mac and start working – come on, it's a restaurant/bar.
We suggest: you pay a visit.
